Invitation for a Permaculture Tour in Israel on 9/2011
Hello dear friends,
On behalf of the Israeli Permaculture community I am happy to invite you & your friends to the first international Permaculture tour in Israel, following the 10th International Permaculture Conference in Jordan, September 2011.
Between Sept. 26th and Oct. 3nd 2011, we will be traveling across Israel, visiting communities, PC projects, ecological farms & experts, celebrating abundance & simplicity.
The tour will take place soon after the PC tour in Palestine (Sept. 25-26th), which follows the IPC10 conference in Jordan (Sept. 16-24th), & over the Jewish New Year’s holiday.
All together we will have 7 nights & 6 days, & an unforgettable experience for the New Year that is starting now in Israel.
This is the first tour ever to contain so many PC sites at once in Israel. We invite you to join us in meeting PC people developing their beautiful projects, in spite of challenging conditions such as lack of resources, extreme climate, political & cultural conflicts, in a very young country, mixed of worldwide immigrants. Those people succeed to create & distribute PC for the benefit of this land & the people living on it.
You are welcome to enjoy, learn, support & meet:
- Jews & Arabs cooperating in growing & distributing local healthy food, combining traditional & modern methods.
- Ethiopian new immigrants integrating in a veteran neighborhood through hands-on activity.
- People researching for ways of living in the desert, learning from ancient cultures that have succeeded to prosper, applying unique local solutions.
- Religious & secular people meeting to work together, learn from traditional wisdom & exchange ideas.
- Old Kibbutz systems turning into new thriving PC communities, learning from the past experience, and much more.
PC proves that cooperation brings dialogue, understanding & peace between people & cultures.
For the last 8 years I have been documenting & giving lectures about PC projects in Israel & around the world. For the last 4 years we have been establishing the Israeli Permaculture Organization (NGO), where I volunteer as a board member. Over the last months we have been witnessing a large awakening amongst the public in Israel & in the Arab countries around it. People are out there on the streets, determined to create a new & better reality. I am very happy for the opportunity to finally upgrade the experience from the virtual world to a real get together.
We are flowing with the changes ~ ~ ~
The tour was originally designed for tourists that join the IPC10 in Jordan, & got lots of interest from abroad & from Israel, however merely little registration. As in Permaculture, we observed, re-thought, & changed our concept. Now the tour no longer involves a traveling agency, organized bus, touristic destinies as Jerusalem & the sea of Galilee, official guiding in English & more. Instead it will be more simple, in “people to people” ways, & three times cheaper.
As in Permaculture, participants will be taking responsibility for themselves, & in this case, will come in private cars or will organize in cars together, for there is no public transportation during the holiday.
The program has been changed a little, & the price will include 13 of the meals during the tour, as 8 of the meals will be under the participant’s responsibility. We will buy & share those meals together as an extra expense, & also share some fire camps.

In 2 of the nights we will be staying in B&B rooms in Kibbutzes in the south of Israel.
In the rest of the nights we will be camping with tents, sleeping bags or in one hall together.
People who are interested will be able to upgrade their accommodation in extra payment if there will still be rooms left.
The cost of the hole week is now only 520$ for tourists (who are free of taxes).
Please note: It is possible now to join us on the way for parts of the tour.

The number of participants is limited & you are welcome to register as soon as you can.

After the tour, on Oct. 3rd, we are offering an extension tour day in Tel Aviv in urban PC projects & community gardens. If you are interested please write that in your email.
Oct. 7th is Yom Kippur here (Day of Atonement) – a unique opportunity to experience a whole nation stopping consumerism, transportation & daily life for 25 hours of introspection. We might be able to help & direct those of you who want to stay and feel these special days with us.
